The following is a release  by  the  United  States  Geological  Survey,
National  Earthquake  Information  Center:   A light earthquake occurred
about 10 miles east-northeast of Olympia,  Washington  at  9:13  AM  MDT
today,  Jul  22,  2001  (8:13  AM  PDT  in  Washington).   A PRELIMINARY
MAGNITUDE OF 4.3 WAS COMPUTED FOR THIS EARTHQUAKE.   The  magnitude  and
location  may  be  revised  when  additional  data  and further analysis
results   are   available.    The   earthquake   was   felt    in    the
Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia area.  There have been no reports of damage.  The
location and  magnitude  for  this  earthquake  were  furnished  by  the
Geophysics Program, University of Washington, Seattle.
