The following is a release  by  the  United  States  Geological  Survey,
National  Earthquake  Information  Center:   A light earthquake occurred
about 30 miles (45 km) NE of Aberdeen, Washington (pop 16,000)  at  7:19
AM  MDT  today, Jun 10, 2001 (6:19 AM PDT in Washington).  A PRELIMINARY
MAGNITUDE OF 5.0 WAS COMPUTED FOR THIS EARTHQUAKE.   The  magnitude  and
location  may  be  revised  when  additional  data  and further analysis
results are available.  No reports of damage  or  casualties  have  been
received at this time.
