Once upon a time in a tiny hamlet sitting on the edge of a dark forest, lived a young country girl. She was a cheerful and caring child and always eager to help others. She liked to play outside, talk about imaginary places and listen to fairy tales. Her mother and father loved her very much, and she also had a grandmother, with whom she shared all her secrets. This kind old lady made her a red cloak, which suited the girl so well that the moment she put it on, everyone started calling her Little Red Riding Hood.
One day her mother prepared a basket with fresh parsley, garlic, ginger, chamomile tea and home-made chicken soup.
"My child, go and see your grandmother and bring her this basket, for she is unwell," she told her daughter.
"Of course! I will gladly visit grandmother!" she answered cheerfully.
"And remember my dear, never ever stop on the road to talk to strangers," her mother warned her.
Little Red Riding Hood set out at once to her grandmother's home. She skipped along the mossy forest trail, happily humming melodies.
When she reached a small glade, she saw a large wolf. She had many animal friends and thought that he looked very friendly. But she was mistaken; the wolf was not at all friendly. In fact he was well known in these parts as a scoundrel and was not to be trusted, but of course Little Red Riding Hood knew nothing of this. He looked at her greedily and imagined that he could make a very tasty meal out of the little girl. But he heard some wood-choppers working nearby and could not pounce upon her immediately; he would have to bide his time. Nevertheless he wasn't going to give up so easily:
