2 MOWA ZALEŻNA I NIEZALEŻNA

W przypadku przywoływania czyichś słów w piśmie mamy zawsze możliwość wzięcia danej wypowiedzi w cudzysłów i poprzedzenia jej stosownym czasownikiem wprowadzającym takim jak say, tell (najczęściej spotykane) bądź np.: inform, claim, argue. Mamy wtedy do czynienia z mową niezależną (direct speech). Mowy niezależnej używa się przeważnie w języku pisanym, aby przytoczyć dokładnie czyjeś słowa. Występuje w dialogach w powieściach, nowelach i innych utworach literackich.

Seller: Good morning sir, how can I help you?John: Good morning. I'm looking for a mobile phone.

S: Prepaid or postpaid?

J: I'm not sure. What is the difference between them?

S: With a prepaid mobile phone you will buy a block of minutes ahead of time. There are no monthly bills and you don't sign a contract. However, the billing is based on a per-minute cost. So, if you are going to use your mobile often then you should go in for a postpaid plan.

J: I think I will be better with a prepaid plan. I'm not a heavy phone user.

S: One more thing, the SIM card includes 15 euros of calling credit. When it runs out, you have to buy more time. If the card is inactive for a longer period of time, it expires.

J: I see. Where can I buy the SIM card?

S: You can buy it in any phone shop or at the newsagents, supermarkets or petrol stations.

1 Czasy

Jeśli zadamy np. pytanie "Have you been drinking?", dajemy do zrozumienia, że wyczuwamy woń alkoholu.

W przeciwieństwie do zdań w Present Perfect, zdania w Past Perfect mogą zawierać konkretne określenia czasu, np. in 1998, on Saturday, when he returned, before she got married.

1.17 Future Simple

Jak wszystkie inne formy czasu przyszłego, Future Simple nie może być użyty w zdaniach zaczynających się od wyrazów when, while, after, before, by the time, if, unless, provided. Reguła ta obowiązuje, wtedy gdy nie ma my zamiaru nadać wyrażeniu z will znaczenia "zechcieć", np. "I'll be grateful if you will kindly consider my request."

"I won't join you."). "I won't be joining you.").

42 Zareaguj na opisane w zdaniach 1-13 sytuacje, wypowiadając swoje decyzje w czasie Future Simple według wzoru.

1.18 Be Going To

Wyrażenia be going to używamy, by wyrazić intencję zrobienia czegoś w przyszłości.

Unikaj stosowania wyrażenia be going to z czasownikami ruchu, zwłaszcza come i go. W takich przypadkach użyj czasu Present Continuous.

"I'm sorry, I can't see you tomorrow. I'm going to visit my uncle.").

"I'm sorry, I can't see you tomorrow.

Jak wszystkie inne formy czasu przyszłego, Future Continuous nie może być użyty w zdaniach zaczynających się od wyrazów: when, while, after, before, by the time, if, unless, provided.

Użyj czasu Future Continuous, by dać do zrozumienia, że chcesz obiektywnie zapytać o czyjeś plany.
